A name I have never forgotten
I also wore a bracelet with Captain Cartwright's name on it for many years. Still have it and will never forget his sacrifice for our country.

Salute, Captian Cartwright
I recently visited the Vietnam Memorial and found Bily Jack Cartwright's name high on the Wall. It was sad to see but I remember meeting him at his home in San Antonio when he was a bright young Ensign flying short wing, prop driven Navy fighter planes. Being a Marine flyer in ww2 we enjoyed talking flying, probably boring of his lovely sister Jody.
I wonder if Billy Jack had a family. He seemed to be inclined that way.

My Commanding Officer
I served under CDR Cartwright in VA-85 on his final cruise. He was a great CO. The mission he was lost on would have been his last. His loss was a tragedy. I always think of him on memorial day. Rest in peace Billy Jack Cartwright.
