It's Sunday Afternoon/We are into Christmas week.

It is Sunday afternoon and I am looking at the list of men killed on this date in Viet Nam.

I'm looking at the name of Billie Jack Cartwright, Capt. U.S. Navy. He was a pilot whose home of record was SanAntonio, Texas; date of birth June 21, 1927. I am uncertain of his date of death, he is listed as MIA. His date of LOSS was December 22, 1965.

Capt. Cartright was involved in an airstrike against the industrial sites of Haiphong on that date, with nearly 100 planes launched off the ENTERPRISE, KITTY HAWK and TICONDEROGA. Four aircraft were shot down, six men.

Two of the Americans were captured and held for seven years as prisoners. Two were killed and two are unaccounted for. Billie Jack Cartright and his rear seater Lt. Edward Gold.

They were in an A6A Intruder, which went down 30 miles northeast of Haiphong.

I don't know anything else about him.....or his family. No one else has posted to his site.

This year he would have been 75 years old. No doubt, a great grandfather.

Billie Jack, God rest your soul, wherever you are.
