I received my POW bracelet when I was in high school. I have searched his name many times over the years and this is the first that I have come across his information. I had no idea he was from cedar Falls Iowa only 40-50 miles from me. If his Daughter would like my bracelet I would love for her to have it. Please contact me for more information.

POW Breclets....
Teresa,
My mom and I would sell bracelets at the State Fair of Texas way back in the 70's...No doubt someone you knew picked up a bracelet with Dad's name there.

Lt. Col.L. W. Whitford, Jr.
I grew up in Dallas, Tx. When I was in the 8th grade, the POW bracelets were popular. Most of my classmates wore them and I had the privilege of wearing one with your father's name. Immediately I memorized his name and prayed for him daily, hoping one day I would find out that he had been located. Several years ago, I was in Houston where the Veterans wall was being displayed. I was anxiously looking for his name, but wasn't able to find it. I'm sure I just missed it, but I was disappointed to say the least. He has been in the back of my mind all of these years. For some reason today, I just thought I'd do a Google search and I finally found his information! I was in elementary school during the Vietnam war and every night I would watch the footage of it on the news. My brother had turned 18 and had to sign up for the draft. I was terrified he would be drafted. I was so thankful to God that he never was, but in my mind, anyone serving in that war was a hero, especially your dad. My prayers will continue for his returning home. God Bless You!

I appreciate folks wanting to return bracelets, but it is customary to return these after the soldier has been found. We are still a way from bringing my dad home, but we may be close, I'll keep you posted.
