Honoring Thomas at the 40th Reading of the Names

It is with great respect and gratitude that I am honored to be reading Thomas A Biddulph's name on November 9, 2022, at the 40th Anniversary of The Reading of The Names at The Wall in DC. My brother Richard Sablotny was also KIA 10/27/1968 and was from Bedford Ohio. He served the Army 3/60th 9th Infantry. Honoring our men/women who served unselfishly and gave the ultimate sacrifice is the least we can do. I strive to ALWAYS REMEMBER, ALWAYS LOVE and NEVER FORGET those we lost so young. My prayers and love are with your family!

My Dear Friend and Brother in Arms

Tom, I remember or days together at Georgia State, especially our time in ROTC. I learned of your death, and the circumstances, shortly after I arrived in Viet Nam. You were a kind soul. I think of you often and miss you terribly, just as I miss all of the brothers we lost. I hope you are at peace. You are loved.

AEKDB, Tom

I have visited this website every Memorial Day weekend since I found it several years ago when I came across Tom's name. I have visited his page ever since.
I pledged Kappa Sigma at Georgia State and got to know Tom while I was a Pledge and Brother. I was in the Army in 1968 with the XVIII Airborne Corps, when I heard of Tom's death. I was on leave at home in Atlanta. I remember talking to several of my fellow Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers while there. We talked about Tom and one thing surfaced most; He was a leader.
I never thought much about leaving a remembrance until now. Not long ago I was cleaning out boxes from my past, I came upon my Kappa Sigma Pledge Paddle. A couple of names jumped out at me. #8 Tom Biddulph and #11 Gene Epps. I thought perhaps seeing these signatures would bring some pleasure to those who knew them. (Note: Gene always signed his name with "101st" for 101st Airborne).
The opening page of the Kappa Sigma Manual, “Bononia Docet”, reads:
“The Star and Crescent shall not be worn by every man, but only by him who is worthy to wear it. He must be a gentleman, a man of honor and courage, a man of zeal, yet humble, an intelligent man, a man of truth, one who tempers action with wisdom and, above all else, one who walks in the light of God.”

I believe Tom fulfilled, to the letter, the qualities set forth in the “Bononia Docet”. I consider myself blessed to have known him if only for a few short years.

AEKDB, Tom
