Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The story of your courage during the battle for Hue is inspiring. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever….

Major Aloysius Paul Mc Gonigal was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as a U.S. Army Chaplain but attached himself to the U.S. Marine units fighting to retake Hue during the 1968 Tet Offensive. He died from wounds received while he was administering last rites and comforting the wounded.

Thank you for your commitment to the Lord and your nation. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Time passes quickly, but our world needs help. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

MAJ Aloysius P. McGonigal is buried at Jesuit Cemetery in Wernersville, PA, Berks County. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
