THE WALL OF FACES

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. We should be forever thankful for the sacrifices of you and so many others to ensure the freedoms we so often take for granted.

Sergeant Robert Gomez, Served with Company D, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, United States Army Vietnam.

Bob was a quiet man who knew everything about Mortars. He was perfect for his job as a Crew Chief. I had moved on 2 weeks prior to X-Ray and was saddened to learn of Bob's passing. I was informed by his fellow Mortarmen that he was killed instantly by small arms fire when he rushed to try to help a fellow Mortarman. I felt that would have been a typical action Bob would have taken. He was a good man who I have had in my memory for decades. R.I.P. Bob. RESPECT. GARRYOWEN
