Remembered
I never got to meet someone like gomez. I look at the names on the memorial and think about grandpap and his brother who made it through. It's an honor to read about a soldier who was a part of that brave first round of soldiers setting foot in vietnam. The life I have been given is lived not just for me but for soldiers like gomez.

Broken Arrow but not Forgotten.
In memorial of Sargent Robert Gomez. I saw his name on the ending credits of the movie We were Soldiers by Mel Gibson. I was but a newly born baby when Sargent Robert Gomez was in the fight of his life. He died on November 15, 1965 and I was born on July 27, 1965. I will honor his memory by offering prayers and a visit to his grave site on Resurrection Cemetery, Montebello CA. God bless the memory of young Sargent Robert Gomez and his surviving family.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Robert Gomez, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

My middle name is due to this hero
My dad was a friend of Robert, and in remembrance, my parents made my middle name Robert due to him. What a honor!
It gives me great value to know that I was named for a man of courage and country.
