Memphis

I knew Jerry in 1963. I dated him. He was a good young man. He was 19. He joked a lot & was so much fun. The last time I saw him was New Yrs. Day 1965, never knew that he would perish that yr. I was from Ripley , Tenn. We took him in as a good friend. RIP Jerry

Shipmates at Naval Hospital Memphis

Jerry and I worked together on the Newborn Ward at Naval Hospital Memphis. We were like peas in a pod and the nurses, doctors and patients enjoyed having us on the same watch because, well we were the best at what Corpsman do. I remember when Jerry received his orders to FMF. I just wanted him to be safe. When the news of his death was announced at the Hospital almost everyone was mourning because he was so well liked. It hit me especially hard because October 30 is my birthday. I have always thought of him and I have talked with my family about some of the things we did. Out of all the people I met during my 30 year Navy career Jerry is the one I remember most.

I Served With HN Gerald Feltner

Jerry and I were platoon corpsman in 2nd platoon, A Company, 1st Battalion 1st Marines. He was a great Corpsman who really cared about the Marines we were assigned to. He was also a great friend. We enjoyed the highs and lows of life in the "Boonies" together. Navy Corpsman at the time were just getting used to being assigned to the Marines. It was a shock at first, but Jerry took it in stride, and always had a great outlook. I tried to contact his wife and daughter several years ago, but never got any answer. If anyone else would like to contact me here is my email: [email protected].
SEMPER FI JERRY!
