Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. You are still MIA.

Happy Thanksgiving. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Be at peace.

In the 90s a Viet Nam Vet gave me a bracelet of Walter A Cichon and a card in which to donate for another bracelet. I donated and got yet another bracelet. I have the bracelet of Mr Cichon.
Mr Curtis, I will gladly give it to you since you might have known him. It's the right thing to do.

I have been to the NJ Vietnam Veterans' Memorial and I probably/must have passed by the Seargent's name. He's the first New Jerseyan I've seen here. He's also the first MIA I've come across. It should have been more than a priority for the U.S. Government to find MIA's during the war and immediately following the Vietnam War. I cannot imagine how awful it is for families of MIA's to not know whether a son, brother, father, uncle, etc. is still alive somewhere. Thank you for your service and sacrifice, SSGT Cichon. Your brothers-in-arms who served with you, the memorials in Holmdel NJ and Washington DC and these web sites ensure that you are NEVER forgotten!

I vividly remember Walter and his brother rehearsing in our basement in Howell Township, N.J. along with my brother who was a member of the original Motifs.
Walter could SING and his brother was an amazing guitarist. Was so very saddened the day I learned he had died in Vietnam - he was a hero.

I will never forget the friendship and love we had for each other. The good times and the future we talked about and looked forward to. The Motifs as we were called is now both a beautiful and hurtful memory I could not forget even if I wanted to. It's all become part of me that I can't escape. I recently picked up my Fender guitar which sat in my home for all these years and just held it strumming a few chords. I always wonder where and how far we would have gone doing something we truly loved, making our music come alive. I can only guess but will never know. I Love you Walt and always will.
