Alexanders grave in Dumbarton Cemetery
Ive seen Alexanders grave in Dumbarton cemetery a few times while walking in the grounds and after seeing it again today I decided to do a wee bit of research to see how a Son of The Rock ended up in the USMC and dying in Vietnam.
I found this site and it was good to see what Alexander actually looked like and learn a bit about how he died. I have submitted a picture of his gravestone which I took this afternoon.

I remember as a child visiting the graveyard that this veteran is buried in and wondering what his story was and how he became buried in Dumbarton here in Scotland.Im a veteran myself now and have eventually gotten round to researching him.Ill try to get down there again soon and try to take a photo of his headstone out of respect and post it here for his friends and family.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Alexander Chisholm, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
