I Miss You Jim

My Dear Brother Jim,

I miss you very much. I am now 60 years and often wonder what it would have been like to have you in my life after all the years have passed since you were taken from us in 1968.

As you know, we buried dad with you in September of 2013 and I know he joined you and mom when he passed away in June.

I will see you again my brother. I miss you and love you so much

Love, Your Brother Anthony

Remembering An American Hero

Dear HN James Anthony Cardinale, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

A Friend from the Past

I only knew you for a short time at San Ramon, but we became friends. I remember you drove me up Mt. Diablo to see the fabulous view. So long ago, but not a Memorial Day goes by that I don't think of you. I call my ex-Marine brother, who met you once, and we always talk about what a great guy you were. Tonight he told me about the Virtual Wall. I wanted you and all who loved and admired you to know that there are others of us who also remember you with great affection.

Jim

Jim, I found The Wall -- by accident? So startled to see your face, which I loved so much. I was looking through your letters and poetry tonight and found a note that was written on a Peanuts cartoon. Snoopy, as the Baron, is sitting on top of his burning dog house, saying "Oh Rats!" You wrote in big, bold letters: "I shall return! Jim" Well, you didn't return. But after over 30 years, you still live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved you -- and there were many.

I named my youngest son after you. He just turned 26. He's a good young man, with a good heart, and he sticks to his principles. Not unlike you. Thank you for watching over him all these years.

And thank you for being with me -- I've known all these years that you have been. But I've missed seeing your face. And I know that someday I will again! I am looking forward to it!!

Love, "The Kitten on the Rocks"
