A Tribute

I served with Mike Company 3/1 in Vietnam from 67 to 68 and have created a tribute motorcycle with all 206 names of our Marines and Corpsmen who made the ultimate sacrifice. To view the pictures of the bike go to www.youtube.com and search "Buds pics of bike" May we never forget.

NEVER FORGOTTEN

FOREVER REMEMBERED

"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind...."

Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell
KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces.

We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to you, one of the gentle heroes lost to the War in Vietnam:

Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother.

From your Nam-Band-Of-Brothers

Remembering...

I am writing this remembrance as a class assignment for Vietnam War Veterans. I am currently a senior at Gridley High School in Gridley, Illinois. We are trying to get at least one remembrance for every man/woman who lost their lives serving their country. I felt this assignment would be one that if taken to heart would serve a lot of good, not only to family members but also to admirers and the general people.

Thank you!

Stephen,
In one of my classes at Gridley High School in Gridley Illinois, we are trying to remember all those who gave their life in service to our country. It is hard for me to comprehend what it was like for you as you were selflessly fighting for our country, but I want to let you know that your act of bravery will never be forgotten. You will forever be an example of a true American Hero! Thank you for the courageous sacrifice you were willing to give! God bless you and your loved ones!
Sincerely,
Kaleigh Schlipf

You Are Truly Missed

My name is Phoenix Marr and I am a senior at Gridley High School in Gridley, Illinois. My history teacher challenged all of his students to write remembrances for those of the men and women whose lives were taken while fighting for this country. I especially want to show my appreciation toward Stephen, who put forth his life to serve our country. Your strength and bravery are to be remembered. I did not know you personally, but I know that you were a great man who is truly missed! God Bless!
