From the remains of us

Here it is, 2024, 55 years since you died. I will try to speak for the kids you grew up with since I see none of it here. I was in boot camp on October 30, and got news at Camp Pendleton, so I couldn't attend your funeral, but I know many of us did. Bob, Terry, Mike G., Cici, Laurie I think. I don't know how many of us are still left. You were well liked and over the years you would come up in conversations. I lost touch with them long ago, but we remembered you riding your Superhawk around. Joking around. Playing the electric guitar. Long, lanky and laconic - you were a character. And the stories you brought back from Germany. It has been a long life and you should have been with us until you found your way. The Army wasn't you. I am sure you did your job well, but am sorry that was your job. VietNam. Even I can barely recall what that was all about.
