How Did This Tragedy Happen ?

I was at my neighbors house when the Military came to notify your parents. They had gone to Mr & Mrs Ryders home thinking it was Rev. Burkes res. I believe there son Harold was also serving in the Military. I remember one young officer becoming very emotional when he asked me if my mother was home. I told them she was as the Senior Officer reminded the younger to keep his composure. Mom was next door but you can only imagine the heart felt greif the Ryders felt upon opening there door and seeing a Military Notification Team. Rev. & Mrs Burke not so fortunate . As a young 7yr old i would often play by the church where the Reverend preached. This man grieved for his son until the day they were reunited. He grieved alone , sometimes with others , and sometimes with me . I heard him ask the Lord ,time after time, what have i done to deserve so much pain. He had to die himself to find the answer, I am guessing . Thanking you for your SACRIFICE. Steve King

Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
