50 years

Gunny, I never got a chance to say thank you for your leadership and courage under fire. Your bravery was an inspiritation to all of us. As I get older I think often about you, the others lost on the 15th and those lost on the 28th on the ridge. It was an honor to have known and served with you and I am proud to call you brother and friend. RIP Gunny

Gunny Z

On our way north, we ran an operation around Phu Bai that had scout dogs attached. Chico's dog was always nipping at them so Gunny Z made a leash out of a bootlace to keep him out of trouble. Gunny sure looked funny walking "his dog". God bless him, he was a good man.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear GSGT Lawrence Goric Ziegler, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Remembering Ziggy

Ziggy, pound for pound one of the best ever. How lucky I was to have known and served with him and to know his wonderful wife, Maureen so many years ago.
