Summer Fun

Mike was a friend of mine during the time he was living in Coolidge, Arizona. He was in high school and I was in junior high when we met. We used to go to open gym during the long hot summer months and play basketball and lift weights almost every day. Ironically, we both joined the Marines and were in Quang Tri in February 1969 when he was killed. I got a letter from my wife while I was in Viet Nam informing me of his death. We were not too far from each other; although, a world apart. I, along with my school friends, will always remember his laughter and huge smile.

Mike Zappia

We knew Mike in Arizona when he was living with his aunt. He was a very close friend of my father, Frank Ferguson. My dad was devastated when he died and we still remember him fondly. He was a great person and is still missed very much.
