THE WALL OF FACES

On this Memorial Day, I find myself thinking about Murray Lamar. That's what his grandmother always called him and so did all who watched him grow up. I too was raised in San Augustine TX , but I was 5 years younger so he was just a handsome, smart boy who went to my church. My family moved away when I was 12. I was home from college during Christmas break when my aunts called to tell us that his plane had gone down and I have carried his memory ever since. Vietnam weighed heavily on the hearts of my generation and his is the only name and face I personally knew. So, Murray Lamar and Johnida, we will never forget. I wore this soldiers POW/MIA bracelet back in the 70ies. Never forgot his name. I always wondered about him and his family and wonder what happened. On this Memorial Day 2024 I think of and honor his service

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The many remembrances from those who wear/wore your MIA bracelet are touching and reflect their admiration and respect for you. It remains my fervent hope you will be returned home after the passage of so many years.

Dear Cap Murray Wortham, Thank you for your service as a Pilot Systems Operator. You are still MIA. Please come home. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Be at peace.

Today, while watching Fox News, I was reminded of the bracelet I wore for many years bearing the name of Capt Murray Wortham.
I still have the bracelet and would like to be able to turn it over to his family.
