I wore a bracelet in your honor.

I wore Martin Vanden Ekyle's POW bracelet for years while in high school. When they released prisoners in 1973 I watched them for hours hoping to see him come home. I still have the bracelet with his name. The moving wall is coming to our area this weekend and I want to visit and see his name. Blessings to his family.

MIA Bracelet

I wore an MIA bracelet, for eight years, with Martin's name on it. I have visited both the Wall in Washington, DC and the virtual wall, when it visited my home town. Both times I was moved to tears but now seeing his photos, I cry once more. Thank you for your service.

Memorial Day Remembrance

I have a bracelet with CW2 Martin Vanden Eykel II written on it. It was a treasure that I wore daily until the Vietnam War came to an end. I came to Dallas to teach school from my hometown of Lubbock. I searched years ago and found that his remains had been recovered from the Vietnamese and returned to the US around 1990. Today, I hold that bracelet which symbolizes a life lost too soon. I would love his family to know that while his loss is a tragic one, he also brought such love and so many prayers to those of us who seriously wore his bracelet and prayed daily for his safe return. Today, the use of technology allows us to know more about him and his family. On this Memorial Day, I lift up his family in prayer for the loss of this young man who gave his life to keep us free. He will always be my hero!
