Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Michael Charles Saporito, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

I share your name....

Michael - I don't even know you but I think about you often. My wife and I visited the wall 3 years ago. The visit was very emotional. Just prior to leaving I decided to check the directory to see if there was anyone who shared my name Saporito. Much to my surprise I found two names that matched - Michael and Ronald. I left there wanting to know more about the two of you. When I arrived home I researched the Internet and there was little info about you available. I do check back often to learn as much as I can. I have a profound respect for the military and particularly those who have perished in combat. Michael - I never knew you personally but I will never forget you. Thank you for your sacrifice.

I still remember

Michael was in my platoon and he was such a joy to serve with.
Unfortunatley I was out on patrol the day he died at the firebase.
I just wanted you to know I remember him and it hurts to think of how long he has been gone.
