honoring you.....

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from Rita Kovach is touching and reflects the anguish experienced by so many families that lost lived ones in this war. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever….

Thank You

Dear PO2C Richard Roesler, Thank you for your service as a Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class with the 7th Marines - Semper Fi. Thank you for the lives you saved. I researched you on your 75th birthday, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Thanksgiving is this week. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of HM2 Richard A. Roesler

In May and June of 1968, the 7th Marines were running Operation Mameluke Thrust in the area southwest of Da Nang, Quang Nam Province, RVN. The 1st Battalion, 7th Marines' After Action Report contains the following entry: "D+16 4 June 1968: Night positions were established with Company L on Objective 1 and 1/7 Command Group, Company B and Company A on Hill 1062. At 2035H [8:35 PM], Company B's perimeter received numerous frag and concussion grenades and a heavy volume of small arms fire. Company B returned fire on the enemy and a sporadic fire fight continued for almost 45 minutes. Friendly casualties were 6 KIA, 21 WIA (evacuated) and 2 WIA (minor). A search of the area revealed seven enemy KIA in green utilities. The enemy unit was identified as part of the T-3 Sapper Battalion." The six men killed in the action were four Marines and two Navy Corpsmen: HM2 Richard A. Roesler, CPL Amelio Nino, LCPL Robert V. Holland, HN Michael D. Soderstrom, PFC Joseph J. Grillo, and PVT Richard A. Polley. [Taken from virtualwall.org]
