Thank You
Dear Gysgt Melvin Rimel, Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Leader. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is the 76th anniversary of the end of WWII, and the 20th anniversary of 9/11 is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

The conversation
I heard the conversation between the Gunny and the Top that night as they rallied the men. It is not in the history books but it should be Guts nobody ever had more than those two.It has been 53 yrs and remember their woods to this day. They stood right behind my gun pit . With total disregard of the incoming rounds of all kinds and machine gun fire raking the hill and with NVA already in the wire they both stood tall and had a conversation in a very calm but loud voices about who were these people and maybe they were after our c rations after asking us if we were gonna let them get our c s their joking stopped and remember their final words HERE THEY COME MARINES STACK THEM UP STACK THEM UP And we did.
