DEAR SERGEANT BLANKENSHIP,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS AN INFANTRYMAN. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE.. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. MANY OF US HAVE BEGUN OUR JOURNEY TO EASTER. AND YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS.

Jewell sacrificed his life for my fathers

Jewell was my father Larry Garland Blevins best friend in Vietnam. One night my father had guard duty on a tower at base camp and Jewell couldn't sleep, so he went up and told my dad that he would take over his shift and for my dad to go get rest. Very soon after that, the tower was blown up by the enemy and Jewell passed away. My father always spoke highly of Jewell and told me that if not for what Jewell did that not only would he have been the one who died, but me or my brother would never have been born. Thanks Mr. Blankenship and Rest in Peace.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT Jewell C Blankenship, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
