Larry Rainey may be gone but he survives through lives of the six Marines who survived this battle. All six of us would have been killed if not for the efforts of Larry Rainey and two other Marines. We will never forget their heroic efforts that night in A Shau Valley and the ultimate sacrifice that they made for us.
We owe them our lives!

I miss you! It makes me sad to know my 2 youngest sons, who I named one Stephen never knew you except through me,nor my 3 grandchildren. They know you were one of the proud one of the few and one of the best. I am so very proud that you are my brother. You are gone from us but never forgotten. The times we had together
and the ultimate sacrifice you made so my children and granchildren can live free from oppression. I Love You, your sister

Although we never met personally, I want to thank you Larry Stephen Rainey, for your courageous and valiant service, faithful contribution, and your most holy sacrifice given to this great country of ours!

Your Spirit is alive--and strong, therefore Marine, you shall never be forgotten, nor has your death been in vain!

I am Lucas Stoller. I am a high school senior. I may not have known you but I live in Gridley which is close to your home town. I can appreciate your sacrifice even more since we grew up in the same area. I am deeply thankful for what you did in service of our country.
