Never forget

I'll never forget you Steve, the last time I saw you was the night I left for boot camp, you told me to keep keep my head down and do what the DI's tell you and I would be OK. You were a good friend and am so glad that I gave the recruiter your name so that you got to spend extra days at home before leaving for vietnam. I followed six months later, but by God's grace I made it back home. SEMPER FI, and I'll never forget you, I think of you a lot.

The uncle I never knew

I have have heard many stories about you from grandmother, and I still go through your stuff that you left behind sometimes, my daddy is named after you and he carries the name proudly. I really wish I could have met you. I tell all my friends about you everyday.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL Larry Stephen Rainey, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
