Thank You

Dear PFC Gustav Ostrakovic, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Your 71st birthday is soon, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

my buddy

Gus and I graduated form PI and ITR and were close friends. We got separated because of an emergency back in Ohio. Upon leaving for home in 1969, I saw a couple of guys from my boot camp platoon.I asked them if they heard anything about Gus. They told me he was gone. I've grieved, for him, since. The guy had a tough life. He deserved better. Wish I could have been there with him. Who knows?!?!? Semper Fi buddy. Never will I forget you. jfkupetz

All gave some, some (like you Gustav) gave it all!

The thing we share is our name... Gustav.

Lately I am more and more attracted to the Vietnam War. I was born in 1978 know quite some stuff about it and thought let's see if any Gustav's are on that wall. The first one Sir, was you Sir! From now one I will try to remember You for what you have done, at least once a year at some special moment or day.

You are not for gotten

Gustav: You made the Ultimate Sacrifice.

If any Family members or Friends of Gustav reads this, I am looking for a picture of him to send to W.DC for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. It would be nice to have a picture to be with his name. Military or H.S. picture will do.

Thank You Jim Sawmiller
