Thomas Nigrelli

I to recall the day Tom died. It was such a tragic event. An accident that caused so much strife for those as soldiers and especially for loved one at hom. Tom was a gallant fellow and never complained about the war we were in. I shall never forget his smiling face and laughter that could fill a room. I think of Tom often an know if he would have been a success at wherever his dreams took him I miss my friend. C Btry. 5th Bn. 2nd Arty..."Have Gun Will Travel" from Texas. God bless all those that served and God bless the USA.

Tragic Accident

Sure enough, today of all days for this bad memory. That morning on a perimeter, my troops were getting ready for chow. Tom had stepped away from his friend/tent-mate to get in line. His friend cleared his weapon to join him , but didn’t remove the magazine and joked to Tom pointed his weapon and fired it, hitting Tom in the chest. It was right behind me and I turned to See Tom fall. His friend went berserk. It took 2 or 3 guys to hold him down. I don’t remember what finally happened to him. As Tom’s platoon leader, I will never forget how he died like that on this day. -1LT J.H. Platoon Leader

Thank You

Dear PFC Thomas Nigrelli, Thank you for your service as an Automatic Weapons Crewman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It’s a New Year, but not necessarily better. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.
