THE WALL OF FACES

My grandparents would drive us to Bernal park in San Jose and my grandmother would tell me stories about him. I would listen so intensely and would feel so much pride thinking about what an honor it was to be related to an actual hero. May he rest in peace alongside his brothers who never came home.

I remember all the fun we had growing up together. I miss you and I went to Viet Nam also. I cry every time I think of you. May you RIP my childhood friend.

I never met you Ray but, I know you. I have been married to you sister Anita for 47 years now. Not a day goes by without thinking of you and how you effected people and made their life a little brighter. We are Airborne brothers: me as a Recon Marine, you as an “Iron Ranger”. The park in your name is beautiful. Until we meet brother.
