Thank you

Hello Tommy.

On the anniversary of your death I want to say thank you for everything you did that morning in Vietnam. It is your story that I stumbled upon when I was thirteen for my power point project on Vietnam and I have never forgotten you. And It is you who is the sole reason for my interest in building a memoral for medal of honour recipients, and from this, my interest is working for veterans. People complain how there is no such thing as altruism on this planet anymore. I simply point them to your story and the other 152 who knowingly sacrificed their life, so that others would live, you are the epitome of what Altruism is, and how it exists still. I am 20 years-old this year, the same age you were when you gave up your life, and for the basic idea that i cannot even picture myself doing anything close to the decision you made, I know that you were clearly a very special person.

People like you will never be forgotten!

60 years

I am sure I would not be pursuing a career as a Lobbyist for Veteran's Affairs if I hadn't stumbled upon your story 6 years ago.

A True Hero

I am an 8th grader, from BMS and our grade is doing a project on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and those who served from Maine. Thank you for all of your personal sacrifices and fighting for the freedoms of others. Thanks for your courage while fighting for the beliefs and values of our country. We will never forget your sacrifice. While learning about your story, I was truly amazed by your heroism and leadership. Self sacrifice for others reflects well on the United States Services. When I first heard about your story I was in awe. To give your life for others is truly incredible. Thanks for your courage, efforts and sacrifices. You will not be forgotten...
