Thank You

Dear Ssgt Edmund Mac Neil, Thank you for your service as a Medical NCO. Thank you for the lives you saved. Your 49th anniversary just passed, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Memorial Day just passed, and it is important to remember you. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I still remember you, Eddie.

On this Memorial Day, 2013, a friend posted a picture of the Memorial Wall in Winthrop, with your name on it under 'Vietnam.' I remember playing with you at the beach in Winthrop when we were 5 or 6. I remember your friendship and good hearted disposition all through our school years. It's a poorer world without you. -Bob

Remembering an American Hero

Dear SSGT Edmund Lambert MacNeil III, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for the ultimate sacrifice that you made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. And please know that men and women like you have stepped forward to defend our country yet again, showing the same love for country and their fellow Americans that you did- you would be proud.

With respect, and the best salute that a civilian can muster for you.

Curt Carter (son of Sgt Ardon William Carter, 101st Airborne)
