A College Friend

My memory of A.D. is of our college years. I remember him as a friend with a wicked sense of humor and a talented athlete.

College Classmate

A D was a friend at Wayne State College. I remember when he came back to say goodbye to us before he left for the war. A Marine/ we knew would be in the front/ we all cared for A D very much. I went to his funeral from Omaha that sad day. I met up with a couple of his college friends from Sidney/ we shared remembrances and left that day proud we knew A D- a brave Marine, our friend. May you Rest In Peace.

In Remembrance for Lt Benson, I’ll never forget the night your tour ended and you entered the Pearly Gates to continue your watch. Rest easy Sir and may the eternal light shine upon you.

The night you were checking up our M60 gun position, you chatted with our gun team the first time you joined our platoon. You spent a few minutes with us telling us stories and mostly being super alert that night before you moved on to the other foxhole. The sad news came to us when you were severely wounded by a boobytrap and our platoon corpsman even used my web belt as a tourniquet to stop your bleeding before a chopper medevac you and we learned later of the sad news that your precious life ended due to a major bleeding. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice and dedicated to our beloved Corps and our Great Country will be forever grateful as one of our heroes. Semper Fidelis Sir and keep watching over us until we meet again. SgtMaj Les Anderson, USMC (Ret)
