Lt. Colonel Joseph Benoski, Jr. was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as Field Artillery Unit Commander and was assigned to HHB, 1ST BN, 39TH ARTILLERY, 108TH ARTY GROUP.
