honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic the circumstances of your passing are especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Ground Casualty
PFC Merrill V. Beasley Jr. was assigned to A Battery, 1st Battalion, 8th Artillery, 25th Infantry Division, his military occupation specialty labeling him a “pioneer,” a soldier employed to perform engineering and construction tasks. On February 1, 1967, he was killed in an explosion in his quarters. An investigation into the incident resulted in PVT Larry L. Hart confessing that he had booby-trapped the door of the troop billet for a “thrill.” PFC Beasley was the victim. Hart claimed that he didn’t target him and only knew Beasley by sight, having been in the company for just three days when he committed the crime.
