Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just three days before your 22nd birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Specialist Four Stephen Paul Krug was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, with Combat Distinguishing Device (V), for his gallantry in action. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Merit for his sustained meritorious service. He served as a Medical NCO (Combat Medic) and was assigned to HHC, 3RD BN, 187TH INFANTRY, 101ST ABN DIV.

Dear Sp4 Stephen Krug, Thank you for your service as a Medical NCO. Thank you for the lives you saved. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is President’s Day Weekend. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I was your Platoon Leader when you left us, and I also was able to attend your family memorial ceremony in California. I still think about you all the time, as you were the best medic in the 101st, and the only man I lost in Vietnam. We were blessed to have you in our Platoon!!
