You're My Hero Brother-Medic
For so long it's been difficult to put my words down on paper for all the world to see. Though I know you always knew and know how much I love you. The captain lied, & due to your CO standing you were hated by him, and instead of pulling you to the rear for your R&R on th 8th GOD and you know what occurred. It was only because of a few good men that came back and told us the truth which agreed with what we already knew. So the bitterness I feel for what the lying captain did will take a time to heal. I suppose it wasn't enough for him that you went into the Army although half of your family resides in Canada. It's been 37 years.... I love you Stephen...YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. YOUR THE BEST!!!!!!! Kathy...I'll write again.

NEVER FORGOTTEN
FOREVER REMEMBERED
"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind...."
Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell
KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces.
We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to Stephen Paul Krug , one of the gentle heroes and patriots lost to the War in Vietnam:
Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother.
From your 101st Airborne Nam-Band-Of-Brothers
Note:
Stephen is greatly missed and loved by his sister Kathleen Krug, who holds Stephen in her heart forever. She will never forget her hero brother.
In addition to Kathleen , Stephen is also greatly loved and forever remembered by his eight other brothers and sisters, his parents, and numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, too numerous to count .
May GOD bless Stephen , and hold him gently in his arms forever.

Steve was my medic.
Steve Krug was our squad medic with B Co 187th Inf 101st. I think of him often and especially every Jan 10th. He was one of my best friends in Vietnam. We went through some tough times together and I hope his family and friends know what a good man he was. I miss him yet.
