Remembering An American Hero

Dear MSGT Steven Harold Adams, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

To MSGT Steven Adams

MSGT Adams,

You don't know me and i was not even born during your war, but my father Was there and fights those demons every day. I attend a motorcycle rally put on by the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle club for the past 12 years. 2 years ago I was in the vendor tent and asked for a POW/MIA bracelet and received yours. I am proud to say you have been with me every minute since then.

I am from WI and am a Navy vet from the 2nd Desert Storm. I will continue to honor you. Just remember your fighting days are over you have fought the good fight us younger folk will carry the sword.

Proudly wearing his name till the end of time.

Dear Steven.

You don’t know me, but, I’d like to bend your ear a bit. I’ve been wearing your MIA bracelet every day since the early seventies when I asked for one from a Vietnam Vets group and they said : Who would you like, I replied an Iowa Air Force Vet and received your name. I researched as much info as could be gotten at the time.

Finding you were born on my birthday a few months later, made you my brother. And finding also you were lost only a few days after I’d returned stateside, strengthened the bond. I’ve worn out and broken several, but continue to wear your name proudly every day, and hope to carry it and you with me someday into the Wild Blue Yonder where we can reach out and touch the face of God.

Now the story: In the early 80’s I was a member of the Tri-State Vietnam Veterans organization out of Dubuque Iowa. The group was going on a bus tour to Washington DC to visit your memorial. I say your memorial because for me it was your memorial, since I had not been to Spencer Iowa. I knew I had to go. One day while talking about it at work to a friend he said he had already been and would bring some pictures. He did and as I was looking thru the pictures one stood out. It was a closer view of the wall names and your name was centered in the picture. I felt a chill and the hair on back of my neck stood up. I asked about the picture and he said something like it was just a closer picture not intending to have anyone in particular in the photo. I remarked about the coincidence and that I was wearing your MIA bracelet at that same time. Later in 2006 when my mother passed away, I was talking with my first cousin Steven and he noticed my bracelet and asked who I had and when I told him a peaceful silence fell on me, he was wearing yours also. We would like to go to Spencer Iowa in the future. For him to turn the bracelet over to one of your relatives and me to just pay homage. See you brother… your missions complete...rest in peace.
