Still think back to the day.

We briefed for the photo mission you were leading up the trail. I was to be your fighter escort. Launched off to RDZ and flew back over the boat when you didn't show. The search was on in the water. Cat launch accident. Gear failure. I have thought of you often over the past 53 years. You are missed.

REMEMBERING A CLASSMATE AND FRIEND

I moved to Topeka Kansas the summer of 1958. Joes' paper route ended at our driveway, which is where we met and soon became friends. I discovered then that we would be classmates. we didn't do a lot together but I would ride my bicycle to his house when I knew he was practicing and listen to him play his trumpet. He would put a record on the stereo and play along. Often his Mom would be working in the front yard and we would visit and listen to him play.
I had heard he crashed during takeoff from the Carrier, but did not know that he was amoung theMissing in Action untill this morning. I consider myself lucky to have known Joe and luckier still to have returned unlike so many. Rest in Peace my friend, where ever you are.
