Thank You

Dear Lt Joseph Klugg, Thank you for your service as an Unrestricted Line Officer - Pilot, on the USS ORISKANY. You are still MIA. Please come home. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is the 12th Day of Christmas, Merry Christmas and happy New Year in heaven. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Joy

I was in an office across the hall from Joe's office/workroom and we hit if off really well. Great guy. He was really excited about his wife being pregnant and looking forward to having a baby but sad, of course, because he couldn't be there.
On the morning of November 14, 1970 he came across the passageway and knocked on my door and was waving a communication and said we have a baby girl. I laughed and said today is my birthday. I turned twenty. He was so excited. We shook hands and I told him I would go to the flight deck for carrier operations to see him take off. I did. He was a great man and I know we would have been a great father. I don't know much more about him than that.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LT Joseph Russell Klugg, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

If I should die...remembrances for LT Joseph Russell KLUGG, USN...who made the utlimate sacrifice!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be nopt like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, eprchance, may therein comfort you.
