I knew you at Naples High School. We played on the basketball team our senior year. I also served in Vietnam in the Army. You were one of the nicest kindest young men I ever knew. The best get taken first. God rest your soul.

My name is Janine Johnson and I married your brother, Don Johnson, in 2000. In 2006, we gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Sarah, your niece.

Even though I never met you, my heart aches at your loss. Our family mourns the lost experiences of a brother, brother-in-law, and beloved uncle.

Thank you for your bravery and ultimate sacrifice. We will forever honor you and keep your memories alive. God bless you, George. We love you.

Remember to save for them a place inside of you, and save one backward glance when you are leaving, for the places they can no longer go...

I remember well, George, that you were always so kind to all the younger kids at Naples First Methodist. You know, the ones at the awkward junior high age. I was one of those kids. My father, Rev. John Rice, was the pastor at that time and I believe conducted your funeral in Naples. I remember all of it very well. Rest well, George. You are remembered fondly.
