Our son is named after you, Uncle Michael
I grew up knowing who you were, though I never had the pleasure or ability to meet you. I know who you were through stories and photographs our family shared.
Two decades separate your death from my birth.
Your brother always carried the sadness of your loss with him. I know your little sister still does. Grandma and grandpa were sure to have several photos of you up through the years. We all know you were constantly in their hearts.
Your nephew, Jason Michael, has a middle name after you; your nephew, Michael, is named in your honor; your great nephew, Michael Adam, is named in remembrance of you.
Thank you for caring enough to enter the Marines. I know you are in heaven, and at peace with your loved ones. Maybe one day we can sit down and share some laughs? Until then, Uncle Michael.

The day Mike was killed.
I had only known Mike for a couple of months. I had gotten to Phu Bi after Mike thus he was already due for his R and R to Hawaii. I remember how happy he was before he left and when he came back. I don't recall how long after R and R unill we lost Mike but I know he was a happy "easy going" guy who was well
liked by our group. (Ordnance Crew). The day we found out of his fatal mission our Company C O had a squadron memorial gathering. Somber event.
I think of you Mike when I look back on my time spent there. Thank you for your sacrifice.
