Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Richard Barnes (barnsey)

I was with Barnsey when He died, He was my dear friend and an exceptional soldier. I think of him and James Mize, who was killed at the same time, almost daily. Rest in peace my brothers.

Two Brave Warriors

I was buddies with James Wesley Mize, "Mongoose Bravo" B Co. 1st/5th 1st Cav Div 1965-66, who was KIA attempting to rescue Richard Barnes in a fire fight. These two warriors paid the ultimate price and I thank God for brave men like James and Richard. I would love to hear from anyone in either Richard's or Jame's family. I served about the USS Oriskany CVA 34, 63-65.
