You have been gone 50 years Jerry
I went to high school and grade school with Jerry. I have his picture along with three other of my high school friends on our office wall. They may not have any grandchildren, or children like I do. They do not have the last 50 years of life like I have had. I have had the chance to make a half century of memories that they never got. But I wanted to make sure that they were not forgotten.
So today Elaine and I went to a Mass we had said in Jerry’s honor. I don’t think Jerry was Catholic but it was a way to honor him. It was the weekly Mass for the grade school. So for this Mass, Jerry’s Mass, the church was full with lots of singing and happy children. Jerry did not have an easy life and whatever sadness and Jerry had to live with, he is now eternally held closely in God’s arms. Whatever loneliness he endured has ended as he was welcomed by God.

Jerry Barksdale
To Valerie Sue Shubkagel, I see you are related to Jerry and would like to know more about his life. As I stated before I served with Jerry from June 1967 until the day he was killed. As I mentioned I have several pictures of Jerry and would be glad to share them with you. I would like to know what cemetery he is buried in and if you are near take a picture of his grave marker for me. My email is [email protected]

To the woman who posted as part of the Flynn Foster family
I am Jerry d. Barksdale's niece. I posted a while back for any information on him. I would love to hear any stories or anything you know about him. He died before I was born and due to circumstances in his childhood my mom [his sister ; well both of his sisters] did not get to know him well. I would like to be able to tell my mom more about him.
