THE WALL OF FACES

Mike was a good man in a small unit of grunts trying to make their way home in the best way possible. On the day of his death we were walked into a first class NVA bunker complex by an extremely naive platoon leader resulting in Mike's death and twenty wounded. Only six of us escaped unscathed and my great regret is that I was not walking point that day because I never would have walked our platoon into that bunker complex. The only justice served that day was the platoon leader's painful wounds.The heroism of the medevac ship dropping the jungle penetrator during a heated battle will always be remembered.
