Michael was my cousin , and lived on same street as my sisters/I back when we were young kids! I remember him as an active energetic fun loving kid! Michael was just 1 year older than me! Another cousin was in Viet Nam at same time! Our families were so saddened when Michael was killed! RIP Michael! U are not forgotten!

My old Friend

We spent a lot of teenage years together in Maple Heights. I went to the USMC when Mike went to the Army. I bring out his picture very Memorial Day and show my Friends and Family.

I was also there

I was the radio operator (RTO) for the 2nd platoon that day. We were 100 meters, or so, from the storm. A few of us were sent forward to help. I t was hard to see so many wounded. We carried those who could not walk from the contact area. I did not know Michael before then. I personally carried him for a short distance and because of that I feel connected to him.

Mike's Home Town - Maple Hts., OH

Although the memorial has Mike's home town listed as Greensburg, Pa. he was actually born and raised in Maple Hts., Ohio. He was married in Maple Hts. and lived in Maple Hts. until he was drafted. His wife Gale's family lived in Greensburg at the time of his death, but Gale (me) lived and worked in Maple Hts. Mike was proud of his home town and would want his family and friends to know that.

I grew up with you Mike and we played ball in the street together and other childhood games as kids in the neighborhood(there were alot of us). You where a few years older than me and when you went to the the Nam we all looked up to you. We were still kids when we found out you had been KIA and none of the old Edinboro gang knew how to handle any of that. I have thought about you many times through the years and you were always and will always be a hero to me. My son is now a U S Marine and I am deeply proud of him as well. Until we meet again brother thank you and Oorah!!
