honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You were born four days before me and died at 21 years of age. I am now 73 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

Not A Day Goes By

Derald Joe Hood and I went to high school together. After track meets, Joe and I would celebrate with mugs of root beer at Jester's. Then we attended college together at SMS in Springfield where we played pitch and mid-night tennis. Joe was respected and liked by everyone who knew him. When he departed for Vietnam I told him to be safe and that I would be there soon and we would go home together. Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. He was as good a man as there is.

STILL MY FRIEND TOO

I think of Derald Joe often especially on Vet's day. A great school mate, and heck of a nice guy. We had fun playing basketball especially in Goodson before we had to go to service.
