Your name has been in my brain ever since you Passed
I was in 7th grade in Grove City when I heard about your passing on the news. The war in Viet Nam was consistently on my mind due to the draft and our soldiers dying daily. I didn't know where or what the hell Viet Nam was. Watching the news every night with parents (only three channels) got to me. When I heard about you, your name was burnt into my mind. Hope you are at peace.

Never forgotten
CWO Richard Lake Holycross graduated from Columbus West High, and then entered the Marines. He served in Korea and was injured at Chosin Reservoir, i.e., the Chosin Few.
After a long rehabilitation, he became strong enough to get hired by the Columbus Police Department. He formed their Honor Guard.
After being a reserve in the Marines, he decided to go active again for Vietnam. Between September 7, 1967 and September 10, 1967, he was instrumental in helping the USMC in the battle at Quang Tri. He was supposed to take leave to meet his wife and daughter in Hawai'i, but couldn't leave due to the intense fighting.
Your dedication to the USMC is not forgotten.
Semper Fi, MArine

Never forgotten
On this Thanksgiving Day, your sacrifice to the Columbus Police Department and to the United States Marine Corps is not forgotten.
I remember the "old heads" when I came on in 1988, telling us about you.
Now as an "Old Head" myself, I am glad that I learned of your story.
Semper Fi, Rick.
