To a Fallen Comrade
Ev was my Artillery LNO with the 3rd Bn, 187th Infantry. I was the Bn S-3 (Operations Officer). We were both shot in the same burst of fire on the evening of 27 Jan 1970. Both of us were clinically dead, but they brought me back to life. Ev was a first class officer and a fine, fine man. I think of him often and have stood at the Wall in DC and touched his name many times. Rest in peace, Ev. I still pray over you.
