Distinguished Flying Cross Award

Major Lee A Greco was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement while engaged in aerial flight. He served as a Pilot, Tactical Aircraft, and was assigned to the 559th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 12th Tactical Fighter Wing, 7th Air Force.

Final Mission of MAJ Lee A. Greco

On December 6, 1966, a USAF F-4C Phantom II (#63-7521) from the 559th Tactical Fighter Squadron was returning from a Close air support mission when it hit a mountain as it descended through dense clouds on approach to Cam Rahn Bay Air Base in Ninh Thuan Province, RVN. Both crewman, MAJ Lee A. Greco and 1LT John M. Troyer, were killed in the incident. [Taken from ejection-history.org.uk and combatace.com]
