Fifty years ago!

Dear Ronnie,
I’m watching the Veteran’s Day ceremonies on TV- right now at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers!! I remember the day that you and I were there on our excursion from Fort Bragg to Washington, DC and finally home to Connecticut. What a time! 1966 I think ( my old brain) unlike you - still 23.
Always and forever - the grief of your loss was just too much to bear for us- your dad, sister & brother. You are always loved, always missed, always prayed for - we love you Captain Ron!

Fifty years gone

Captain Ron! ????
When you were killed in 1969, (September 26, 1969) there was no fanfare - hundreds did not attend the funerals of Vietnam casualties - But, that never diminished the agonizing sorrow and grief of losing you- your dad and your sister and brother beyond being able to function with the enormous sadness -how much you were loved- Now fifty years have passed- how can that be-

I’ll always love you Ronnie!

They shall not grow old

They shall not grow old
They went with songs to battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady & aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted. They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
We will remember them.
Fifty years gone. Missed & loved always.

Captain Ron- it’s unbelievable to think that 50 years have passed since you were reported missing in action, then found. We were only 23 years when you were killed??.
You wanted to stop the spread of Communism, as did so many of your fellow combat soldiers. Not many days go by that you are not prayed for, thought of, missed....you’ll always be loved. Blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream!
