honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just five days after your 22nd birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Thank You
Dear PFC Jose Gonzales,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Epiphany. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ground Casualty
PFC Jose B. Gonzales served with M Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. On December 9, 1966, PFC Gonzales was wounded in the left side of his abdomen while his unit was engaging hostile forces in the vicinity of Hill 220, located on the west side of the Cam Lo River Valley, about 7 ½ miles north of Ca Lu Airfield. While awaiting medical evacuation, a resupply helicopter hovering overhead accidently dropped a wooden case of ammunition on him, fatally injuring him by fracturing his skull. My Cousin
Bernie, I can still remember the day you were talking to my dad in our kitchen. You told him, Ricardo I don't want to go back to war. My dad shook his head and said well I think you have to go otherwise you will be a walled. Who would have that thought that was the last time we saw you. RIP Bernie and thanks for your bravery and everything you did to service our country.
