My Cousin
Bernie, I can still remember the day you were talking to my dad in our kitchen. You told him, Ricardo I don't want to go back to war. My dad shook his head and said well I think you have to go otherwise you will be a walled. Who would have that thought that was the last time we saw you. RIP Bernie and thanks for your bravery and everything you did to service our country.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Jose Bernardino Gonzales, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Semper Fi, Bernie
You were quiet and shy. We visited your mother, Mela and family in Los Lunas. Your mother told us, "I loved him, he loved me, I still love him." We placed a bronze plaque on your grave, in Los Lunas, with these words: "SEMPER FI - MY BROTHER - U.S. MARINES - NEW MEXICO - INDIANA". I think of you each day. "Vaya con Dios" Semper Fi, Diana and Denny Brown
